International Cricket Captain 2008.zip
This is a list of all English national cricket captains, comprising all of the men, boys and women who have captained an English national cricket team at official international level. England played in the first Test match in 1877 and have played more Test matches, and had more captains, than any other team. In the 19th century, the captains for overseas tours were chosen by the promoters, with James Lillywhite, Alfred Shaw and Arthur Shrewsbury being the main professional promoters. However, some amateur tours went abroad under Lord Harris and Lord Hawke. Home captains were selected by the home ground authority, who often went for their local favourites.
International Cricket Captain 2009 is the 2009 edition of the International Cricket Captain series, and the 12th game in the series so far. It contains all current cricket players from first class cricket, Test cricket, List-A and One Day International teams, and can be played in a career mode indefinitely, with repeating domestic and international fixtures generated for each year, along with youth players continually added and other players retiring to enable an open-ended career as coach of a national or domestic side. There have been many improvements in the game from the previous instalment International Cricket Captain 2008. It was first released on 2 July as a download only from the Childish Things website, and the box version was released on 17 July 2009.
The first England cricket captain was one James Lilywhite, in 1876 and 77. England played Australia. They won a game; they lost a game. There is little else to note about Mr Lilywhite other than that he had a stonking beard and silly surname. But what of the other England cricket captains? Who are the most memorable? Who were the greatest leaders? Who had the silliest name of all?* Find out all, and more, below.
Botham was the second player ever to both score 100 runs and take 10 wickets in a Test, and is arguably the most charismatic England cricket captain ever. Owed to the Ashes and the Jubilee Test in then-Bombay, his exploits in the early 1980s have since become the stuff of legend.
Following the 2002/3 Ashes, Michael Vaughan was held in fabulous esteem in the cricketing world, with critics hailing him as one of the greatest batsmen in the game. A strong opening batsman, Vaughan once more captained the England team in 2005, leading them to a stunning victory in the Ashes.
India won the first title back in 2000 under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif. The former India cricketer led the side to its maiden U19 World Cup title. The team had the likes Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh among others. India had to wait eight years for their second title. It was in 2008 when India lifted the second title under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. India beat South Africa in the final of the tournament. Kohli is the current captain of the Indian cricket team.
Amit Pagnis: In the inaguaral U19 World Cup was played in Australia in 1998 and Pagnis was the captain of the team. 16 teams participated in that tournament and India reached the second round Pagnis is a former Mumbai cricketer and has more than 5,000 runs in domestic cricket. The 39-year-old never played for India.
Virat Kohli: India got another chance to win the World Cup and Kohli did not let it go. He led India to their second U19 World Cup title in 2008 by winning the final against South Africa. Kohli became an overnight star. He got an IPL contract the same year. He is the current captain of the Indian cricket team in all formats and was part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup.
Prithvi Shaw: The latest Indian captain to win the U19 World Cup is Shaw. The Mumbai cricketer had already made waves in the domestic circuit by scoring tons of runs in age-group cricket. Before captaining India in the U19 World Cup, he made his Mumbai debut and already has five centuries. He has now got an IPL contract as well.
Australia introduced coloured clothing to international cricket. At the 1985 World Championship of Cricket, title-holders India adopted the light blue and yellow combination, which was to be the standard in the years to come. This was the simplest of kits, sans sponsors, logos, emblems and even player names.
This was the year that gave international cricket glimpses of Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey, Saurabh Tiwary, Siddharth Kaul, Shreevats Goswami and Iqbal Abdulla. In the final, they faced a South African side that boasted of JJ Smuts, Rilee Rossouw, Reeza Hendricks and their skipper Wayne Parnell. The Kohli-led side clinched a victory in a final in Kuala Lumpur reduced to a battle of nerves due to rain. Eventually, it was the Indian bowlers who stepped up and helped their team beat South African by a dozen runs. When Kohli lifted the trophy, it laid down an early milestone on his path to becoming one of the biggest names in cricket in the coming years. Incidentally, the well-deserved victory now remains his only ICC tournament trophy as captain.
Leading from the front with his unbeaten century, Unmukt Chand powered India to World Cup glory as the team pulled off an impressive chase to beat defending champions Australia in the final. He outshone his Australian counterpart William Bosisto, who had pulled Australia from 38/4 to a competitive score with an unbeaten 87. Although the Australian captain was named Player of the Tournament, it was Chand who had won the day and the World Cup for India. It was also the final from which international cricket became a little more acquainted with the likes of Baba Aparajith, Hanuma Vihari, Akshdeep Nath, Sandeep Sharma, Travis Head, Ashton Turner and Cameron Bancroft.
Six years later, as we re-imagine an Indian line-up that consisted of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Avesh Khan, Washington Sundar, Sarfaraz Khan, Khaleel Ahmed and Mahipal Romror, it is safe to say that the loss in the final was truly an upset. The majority of the team proved their mettle in the years to come in both international and domestic cricket. But on that day in Mirpur, it was the West Indies that proved to be too hot to handle even for this Indian team. The Windies also boasted a squad that consisted of future internationals Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph and Keemo Paul. In what transpired into a thrilling final, the Hetmyer-led side used a combination of high-speed bowling and a resilient batting performance to cause the upset of the tournament on the day it mattered most. It was a great time to be a West Indies cricketer, male or female.
The first of the three players is Sourav Ganguly who was the captain of the Indian cricket team when Dhoni made his debut in international cricket in an ODI against Bangladesh. The second player is Rahul Dravid who was the leader of the Indian team when Dhoni made his debut in red-ball cricket. Both of them were quite senior to M.S Dhoni and it was under their guidance only when Dhoni became a permanent member of the team and went on to replace both of them in their respective roles i.e. captain of the Indian cricket team.
Wright forged a fruitful partnership with the newly appointed captain Sourav Ganguly and took Indian cricket to new heights by nurturing youngsters like Harbhajan Singh,Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Mohammad Kaif, and Ashish Nehra.
